Just off the A140 (and within an easy 15-minute walk along a leafy lane from Wild & West farm), this gorgeous eatery is housed in a lovingly restored country house, set in 17 acres of idyllic Suffolk parkland. Once you’re encompassed by its high-hedged borders, you feel disconnected from the rest of the world in your own peaceful haven.
Perfect for family jaunts, children can voyage on a wooden ship named the Jolly Conqueror, whilst the adults keep an eye out and kick back with a glass of something cool in the garden. It’s also a great place for celebrating with friends and a perfect date night destination, whether you’re sat in the sunken terrace or in the orangery-style restaurant.
A Victorian walled kitchen garden is at the heart of the Oaksmere’s menus plus there’s an onsite butchery – we love that homegrown and local produce are the stars of this culinary show.
Sunday lunch with the family always goes down well. Or if you’re a couple who enjoy meat, we can’t recommend the Chateaubriand enough – it’s simply delicious (and must be accompanied by mac ’n’ cheese!).
